Introduction

Program Team Design

Content

Successful Agile Transformational Team share two common traits, they’re empowered to determine how best to achieve their goals and consist of cross-discipline staff, where technical and commercial staff co-own, co-design, co-create and co-deliver and support the entire program life cycle. Creating a cross-discipline agile program team calls for the adoption of a Competency Led Agile Team Design Framework.

The framework steers the organisation to:

  • Define a series of near and long-term goals, for example, objective and key results

  • Document the entire value chain required to produce the offering, process, product or solution

  • Identify the core competencies needed within each of the main value chain stages

  • Work with the resource team to determine which roles hold the necessary competencies

  • Appoint the core Agile Team roles, including, a Product Owner, a Scrum Master and a small number of subject matter experts

  • Determine the level of engagement needed from the other supporting roles.

When considering the adoption of Competency Led Agile Team Design Framework, Monetical also recommends organisations consider the following activities:

  • Project to Product Line Organisational Structure Transition

  • Data Driven Objective and Key Results Product Backlog Prioritisation Mechanism

  • Setting Agile Team Allocation Limits to Reduce Staff Context Switching
