User Story Ownership
Response
Any member of the agile team can take ownership of a user story. Selecting it from the Open, ready to start state to the work in progress state.
Due to the simple way user stories are authored, providing a clear description of the intended benefactor, for example, the end user, as part of the user story context and conditions, they all they require to proceed.
The technique allows individual user stories to be worked when the most suitable member of the agile team is not available.
The daily check-ins that take the form of a daily stand-up enables any implementation challenges to quickly surface and gain further support.
The user story owner can be different from the one that writes it and therefore determines whether it can be assigned to the Complete state from work in progress.
The Product Owner holds sole responsibility to determine whether the it can be moved from the Complete state to the Done state, having collaborated with the original writer, implementor and most importantly any associated stakeholders, for example consumers and users.
