Communication Strategy (Planning & Scheduling)
Response
Successful Communication Strategy (Plans & Schedule), creating and maintaining purposeful connections, within an initiative, its stakeholders and partners requires planning. Communication Strategy (Plans & Schedule) ensures there is a consistent and productive approach to communicating between the Team and all their external communities.
Effective initiative execution relies heavily on a communication strategy that ensures consistent communication throughout the entire program life cycle with all its stakeholders. Effective communication will enable the stakeholders and interested parties to receive timely feedback on deliverables and become aware of external factors that may influence the program goals.
A well defined program communication matrix describes the approach to be taken when presenting information about the program, it's purpose, mission, team members, goals, high-level quarterly milestones (Feature Roadmap), current and next working activities (e.g. Epics, Features and User Stories within the current and next few Sprints).
Finally, a program communication matrix ensures consistency from one team to the next and a clear and predictable communication between program team and its stakeholders, including the format, timing, delivery method and ownership.
Effective communication requires the Initiative Team to carryout a number of activities to create a successful Communication Strategy.
Communication Communities (groups consisting of individuals who have the share the same needs and wants or involvement within the initiative)
Communication Power Map (a visual representation of communication dynamics, identifying relationships, influence decisions, or power structures within the Initiative)
Communication Plan (Schedule/timeline of communication activities)
Community Methods (describes the approach the communication will take: Formal, Informal, Adhoc, Invitation, or Open)
Communication Format (Stand-up, Meeting (F2F), Digital Meeting, Digital Broadcast or Webinar)
Communication Rhythm (time & frequency)
